

From 14th to 16th September 2021, the XXIII. year of the International Conference Disaster Medicine in Luhačovice was held. The event was realized in cooperation with the Faculty of Logistics and Crisis Management of Tomas Bata University in Zlín and the company EGO Zlín, spol. s r.o. This MEKA 2021 was co-financed by Zlín region.
The conference was attended by over 180 visitors from 8 countries. The content of the conference focused on current topic, which is the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, and topics were deliberately chosen considering the coverage of the maximum number of points and areas concerned. Crisis managers, doctors, psychologists, representatives of fire and rescue services, representatives from the ministry, regional authorities, but also veterinary experts were able to present their observations.
The opening ceremony of the conference was realized by MUDr. Vladímír Lengvarský, MBA, the Minister of Health of the Slovak Republic; Ing. Marian Ležák, Mayor of Luhačovice; MUDr. Olga Sehnalová, MBA and by Ing. Pavel Kostka.

The international workshop BIOHAZARD TEAM 2025 took place on 2 December 2025 at the EGO Zlín Academy. Experts from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Austria shared their experience in managing high-consequence infectious diseases and provided valuable feedback for further development of equipment and procedures used by biohazard response teams.
